Coppin State's Michael Murray has earned the StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week for the week ending December 17th. StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week goes to Rashid Gaston from Norfolk State. And finally, DeMetrius Upchurch from North Carolina A&T is StatSheet's MEAC 6th Man of the Week.

Murray led all of the MEAC in rebounding (11.5 per game). He also put up 60% shooting and 15 points per game. The Coppin State junior played well in a win against Maryland-Baltimore County and a loss to Wagner.

Murray led scoring and rebounding for the Eagles with 19 points and 13 rebounds in an 80-61 win over Maryland-Baltimore County. In the next game he added 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-65 loss to Wagner.

This is the second StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week honor for Michael Murray. The runner-up this week is Matthew Hezekiah, a junior from South Carolina State. Honorable mention goes to Simuel Frazier, a sophomore from Howard.

StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Norfolk State's Rashid Gaston

Rashid Gaston played an average of 25 minutes as a starter for Norfolk State. His average in scoring (11.5 pts per game) was the best among all MEAC freshmen. In a 64-54 loss to Illinois, Gaston led the Spartans in scoring with 12 points and in rebounding with 8. Then in an 84-62 loss to NC State, he dialed up 11 points and 6 rebounds.

This is a first for Rashid Gaston, who has never won the StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Sterling Smith from Coppin State. Honorable mention goes to Bruce Beckford from North Carolina A&T.

StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: North Carolina A&T's DeMetrius Upchurch

Senior DeMetrius Upchurch, a 6-7 reserve forward, averaged 21 minutes over two games for the Aggies. In a close 76-71 win over New Jersey Tech, Upchurch put up 8 rebounds and 75% shooting. During a 77-66 loss to Seton Hall, he racked up 9 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week honor for DeMetrius Upchurch. Tauron Bailey, a junior forward from Morgan State, is runner up. Tyshawn Bell, a sophomore forward from Delaware State, receives honorable mention. Hampton has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
